JOB SUMMARY

Under the direct supervision of the Program Manager, the Residential Facility Monitor will supervise daily living functions and assist in program activities and monitors residents and visitors in program participation and compliance.  Educate and model healthy relationships between family and community members, ensure security of the facility, and appropriately respond to any crisis interventions during shift.  An understanding of addiction and recovery and facilitation of educational groups preferred. 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Maintaining shift coverage and support of residential clients, setting and contributing to the safety and security of the clients and the facility.

  • Develop effective, trusting relationships with clients by utilizing a trauma informed care and strength-based approach. Model positive interactions and positive verbal guidance.

  • Enforcing program rules, policies, and procedures.

  • Ensure cleanliness of facility via daily walk thru, checking client chores, conducting room inspections.

  • Monitor observance of curfew, document if curfew is missed.

  • Ensure residents sign in and out of facility.

  • Intervene in crisis situations, reporting to on-call counselor in case of emergency.

  • Document and report observations and pertinent information concerning client behaviors, attitudes, and interactions in the communication log.

  • Report and monitor residential medications according to procedures.

  • Assist program staff with the facilitation of social events, life-skills classes, and home management.

  • Documentation of clear and precise shift notes, incident reports and critical incident reports within company electronic health record (EHR) system.  

  • Guiding clients and facilitating appropriate behavior about daily living skills, self-care, personal interaction, social relationships, and constructive time management.

  • Conducting regular rounds of the facility and interacting with participants to share information, provide supplies, and facilitate interventions as necessary.

  • Address negative behaviors with a positive attitude.

  • Conduct and/or monitor educational groups as assigned (day & evening shifts).

  • Perform periodic inspections of the facility and develop corrective action plans to address problems.

  • Have visitors sign in and out on visitor’s log and obtain copy of their identification for client files.

  • Monitor the security cameras to ensure there are no unauthorized individuals on the premises.

  • Supervise client activities including breaks, work assignments, recreational activities, and other activities.

  • Remains culturally sensitive and respectful in all client and staff interactions.

  • Facilitate transportation when needed to clients for appointments, shopping, emergencies or other situations as approved by Counselors, Clinician and/or Case Manager. After hours fill out cab vouchers when residents are transported.

  • Complete intakes and eligibilities for potential clientele and verify completeness and accuracy of documents.

  • Participate in applicable meetings, trainings, conferences, etc. as required both internally and externally.

  • Adheres to all client confidentiality requirements and standards, including updates of the shared Release of Information (ROI) to ensure that information is current and accurate.

  • Conducts urinalysis and breath testing of clients as needed.

  • Conducts community outreach on Champions services when needed.

  • Comply with all Champions policies and procedures, including but not limited to: workplace safety, reporting work related injuries, Infection Control and preventing potential safety risks for staff, clients and others.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience: One (1) to three (3) years in a customer service focused environment. 1-3 years of experience with mental illness or other disabilities, preferred.

  • Priority will be given to applicants with 1-2 years of work experience in a school or treatment setting with clients with substance use, mental health, and criminal justice system involvement. Note: Personal lived experience may contribute to these years of experience. Examples of work experience that may count include but are not limited to: working in other peer-to-peer recovery programs or other psychoeducational program.

  • Education: High School or GED; or AA in social work, psychology, or related field.

  • Other: Criminal background and school clearance required.  Must maintain clearance throughout your employment.

  • Must have valid California Class C Driver’s License; maintain a good safety record (verified by DMV at hire and periodically) and a reliable vehicle; proof of comprehensive auto insurance if driving personal vehicle. Must be able to drive their own vehicle for business purposes to other program locations in Kings and Tulare County.

  • Must be drug tested prior to hire, with drug test results negative for illegal drug use and marijuana.

  • Must pass background check (Live Scan Fingerprint - MANDATORY).

  • Must have TB clearance within 60 days prior to hire (MANDATORY).

  • First Aid and CPR certifications obtained within 30 days of employment and maintain current thereafter.

  • Must be willing to comply with various COVID prevention policies required by school districts, including vaccinations, face covering, etc.

  • Ability to understand and interpret information, follow instructions, and manage workflow.

  • Basic knowledge and skills with computer keyboarding and computer programs. Advanced office management practices and operating procedures.

  • Able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, apply professional judgement in solving difficult issues, and to communicate in a clear, precise, and professional manner. Strong Interpersonal skills: ability to work effectively with people in a constructive manner within a community-based treatment setting.

  • Must have flexibility to work at least one night per week and weekend hours during scheduled client activities.

  • Applicant must submit appropriate background check clearance and be able to pass and maintain school clearances to provide services on campuses.

  • Bilingual (English and Spanish speaking) preferred.

ORGANIZATION RELATIONSHIPS/INTERACTIONS

  • Interfaces with all levels of management, staff, clients, residents, and families including community partners.  Services involve travel to different communities and schools through the San Joaquin Valley for assessments, service provision, and crisis management.

PHYSICAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to perform the essential job functions consistent safely and successfully with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.

  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 lbs.

  • Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone and telehealth platforms.
