Youth Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Treatment

Champions’ Youth Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Treatment programs provide treatment and recovery support services for youth and adolescents experiencing substance use disorders. Champions programs are designed to help youth and adolescents maintain a positive and productive drug-free lifestyle that promotes meaningful and beneficial relationships and connections to family, peers, and the community both during treatment and after treatment ends.

Champions' program serves adolescents aged 12-20 who are experiencing both substance use and mental health disorders. Though the program accepts walk-in participants, most are referred directly from the Department of Probation, Tulare County.

The DRC and FDRC serve to provide structure and skills to individuals struggling with a variety of social and criminal justice issues. Mental health and substance abuse co-occurring issues are addressed through individualized treatment by licensed and certified professionals.

Program components

  • Assessment (substance use, mental health, and risk)

  • Individualized Treatment & Discharge planning

  • Intensive Case Management

  • Drug Screening / Testing

  • Community Supervision

  • Psychological Assessment

Services Provided

Champions Youth SUD Treatment programs address substance use disorders and strengthen families through comprehensive and collaborative services including case management, individual, group, and family counseling, drug and alcohol education, and child development and parenting. Program staff will perform complete intakes and psycho-social assessments for each client utilizing the Teen Addiction Severity Index (TASI). Assessments include medical histories, drug use histories, legal, vocational, educational, and mental health information.

Furthermore, Champions Youth SUD Treatment programs provide linkages and referral services to additional substance use treatment programs at Champions and other community-based providers, as well as linkages to our collaborative networks that provide housing, food, clothing, and transportation for those in need.

Anger Management for Adolescents (AMA)

Manage factors that may make you more likely to get angry, such as improving sleep so you're not tired and keeping stress low by using stress management skills. Identify situations that are likely to set you off and respond in nonaggressive ways before you get angry. Learn specific skills to use in situations likely to trigger your anger. Recognize when you aren't thinking logically about a situation, and correct your thinking. Focus on problem-solving in frustrating situations — instead of using energy to be angry, you'll learn how to redirect your energy to resolve the situation. Communicate effectively to defuse anger and resolve conflicts.

Batterer’s Intervention Program for Adolescents (BIPA)

Youth ages 13-17 who have committed acts of violence against an intimate partner, siblings, parents, or caregivers. 26 to 52-week program dependent upon referral requirements
