RSAT Program

The Residential Substance Abuse Treatment (RSAT) program is a grant-based program that provides substance abuse treatment while in custody. The RSAT program is located at the South Detention Facility in Porterville, and can house up to 50 inmates. The program is a voluntary program and is a joint effort between Tulare County Sheriff’s department and Champions Recovery Alternative Programs. The mission is to provide a choice for positive lifestyle changes for the incarcerated population and their families through facility and community-based services. This will be accomplished with assessments, behavior modification, life learning skills, and aftercare. Inmates must meet classification guidelines to be placed into the program.

Women’s RSAT Program

The Women’s RSAT Program is a 4–12 month substance abuse program housed at the Bob Wiley Detention Facility and has the capacity for 10 -15 participants. The program promotes positive social behavior and prepares inmates for release by developing the knowledge and skills necessary to avoid substance use relapse and successfully integrate back into the community.  Referrals may be made through the court or via program slips if the inmate is interested in the program. Inmates must meet classification guidelines to be placed into the program.

Champions also works with Inmate programs to provide other services that support positive lifestyle change such as Relapse Prevention, Parenting classes, Anger management and Batterers intervention. For more information, please contact the Inmate Programs Office.
