JOB SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Clinical Director, the Clinical Supervisor’s primary duties include developing and implementing a specialized treatment program that involves the assessment and treatment of adults with co-occurring disorders. The Clinical Supervisor's will evaluate and/or revise the treatment program as needed, oversee training of staff as it relates to the treatment program, and assures effective day-to-day clinical operations. The Clinical Supervisor will provide direct supervision and group supervision to unlicensed ASW’s and MFT Interns, on a weekly basis. This will include clinical and administrative supervision. Successful candidates must possess a clinical license or a counselor certification, have experience providing supervision, and must have a background in Drug Medi-Cal and the California Department of Health Care Services regulations and standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Create an integrated and coordinated system of care that will identify and treat clients with co-occurring disorders and other high-risk behaviors.

  • Establish a crisis intervention protocol and 24-hour system of care.

  • Guide staff and interns in the development of their work plans, their assigned duties, responsibilities and scope of authority; consults with staff on problems relative to clients.

  • Supervise and evaluate clinically and administratively assigned clinicians, unlicensed ASW’s and MFT students/interns on a weekly basis. Write off on hours to be collected for Licensure.

  • Ensure client documentation is accurate and submitted within the established time frame.

  • Identify staff training needs and ensure development and implementation of programs that address needs, participate in delivering training sessions to meet the needs of staff related to clinical/program.

  • Read and help correct and approve all client care coordination plans and assessments an electronic health record system.

  • Develop higher levels of expertise in staff members by encouraging further education, participation in seminars and providing learning opportunities in the area of mental health and/or substance use.

  • Attend weekly multidisciplinary treatment teams.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Possession of a valid license to practice as a Marriage Family Therapist, Clinical Social Worker, or Clinical Psychologist in the state of California. License must be active and in good standing with the state licensing board.

  • Minimum of three years of experience working with individuals with a history of mental illness and substance abuse.

  • Valid California driver’s license and insurable driving record (Required)

  • Successful completion of a physical exam and TB test

  • Live scan fingerprinting clearance for FBI, DOJ and CAI

  • Ability to work in crisis situations in a professional and mature manner.

  • Strong counseling, CBT, and motivational interviewing skills. Ability to apply evidence-based therapeutic interventions as well as an understanding of traditional community supports in substance use disorder treatment essential.

  • Experience working with forensic populations and/or individuals within the criminal justice system.

  • Knowledge of co-occurring disorders and evidence-based treatment approaches.

  • Effective leadership and management skills and proficient in the area of program development and evaluation.

  • Must be adaptable to constant distractions, interruptions, uncontrollable changes in priorities/work schedules; be able to process information, think, and conceptualize.

  • Working knowledge state and federal regulations relating to mental health services and substance abuse treatment (Title 22, Title 9, ASAM, etc.).

  • Capable of presenting ideas, information and viewpoints clearly, both verbally and in writing.

  • Ability to utilize analysis, objectivity, and clinical judgment to make informed decisions.

  • Strong skills in staff supervision and implementation and development of policies and procedures.

  • Familiarity and ease working with issues related to homelessness, substance abuse, mental health diagnosis, and history of trauma.

  • Effective written and oral communications skills with the ability to connect with people from varied backgrounds.

  • Proven working knowledge of Microsoft Office; ability to learn and use program-specific software.

  • Ability to work flexible schedules/shifts/areas as holiday and weekend work may be required.

  • Bilingual (English and Spanish speaking) preferred.

ORGANIZATION RELATIONSHIPS/INTERACTIONS:

Interfaces with all levels of management, staff, clients, residents and families including partner agencies.

PHYSICAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Must have the visual, physical and technical ability to independently operate a variety of office equipment including the use of a computer. Will also require bending, stooping, filing, lifting of at least 25 lbs. or more and able to interrupt physical altercations. Ability to verbally communicate well with others.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Services may involve travel to offsite locations for assessments, service provision, and crisis management.

This position may include working non-traditional business hours, swing or graveyard shifts and/or weekends, all varying shifts.
